Why is it so hard to cancel my subscription to the personal ads?

Four words - they want your money.  They have all sorts of tricks and gimmicks to get more money out of you.  Even when they offer a one-week risk-free trial, they don't let you cancel online.  They require a cancellation in writing, making it much more difficult to get it in before you get billed.

The one that cracks me up lately is Match.com, with their TV commercials saying, "If you don't meet someone in six months, you get another six months free."  If I spent six months on one of those sites and didn't meet anyone, they couldn't pay me enough to endure another six months!

I'm not sure what you have tried when attempting to cancel your Yahoo Personals subscription.  Try using these steps to cancel it:

  1. Go to the Yahoo! Personals home page and log in.

   2. The homepage has different sections; the middle section is "My Personals Status" where your profile & primary photo are located.

   3. In the upper right hand side of that section, click on the "Billing Info" link

   4. Enter your password when prompted.

   5. Click the "Cancel" link.

   6. Click the "Confirm Cancellation" button.
