  1. try powerbait it usually gets em when they're down deep...and you can adjust your leader until you find the depth they are hanging at.

hook >> 12-24" 2lb or 4lb leader >> barrel swivel sz 14 then the egg sinker about 1/8 oz

try yellow first - they have a corn scent (real corn kills trout because they can't p**p it out and it blocks their digestive system)  if that doesn't work after an hour or so try chartruse or a chartruse & white ... last last two colors are orange or pink.

a night crawler w/out a sinker might help too - if you can get it out a ways... spinning reel 6 or 8 lb line (what I use unless I'm going ultra light then it's 4lb with a 2lb leader)

  2. Trout are one the least intelligent of fishes, but they still respond to changes in barometric pressure. The bite will usually go off before it rains, whne the cold front comes through, and will slowly pick back up.

But there are no sure fire rules, I've caught a limit of 3-5# trout immediately after a thunderstorm passed through.

If you are fishing on a smallish lake; fish into the wind as the wind will be blowing feed towards you. If it's very choppy, they won't be in the shallow water.

Fish will bite in a steady drizzle though... so there is only so much science you can put to it. Be patient and enjoy the fishing :)

  3. Most fish are just like us, the don't like the rain it somewhat disturbs them. Although thier shelter is just deeper water. So mabey just try fishing at 5 or 6 feet  deep. Hope I could help!!

  4. some lakes actually feed better when it rains, the trout seem to think its trout pellets which they are often fed on and so will start to feed, if your fly fishing i find it makes very little difference, except the use of dry flies isn't as easy because there are less hatches, so nymphs work better, a submerged or drowned daddy long legs fly imitation can work well fished slowly back through the water on a floating line.

  5. it make them go deeper but after the rain the bite should be good cause it washes alot of little insects and stuff into the water so try using flies after the rain has stop for a while.

  6. if your fly fishing the trout go down a little deeper because they cant see the flies on top of the water.

If your lake fishing you should use live bait. Part of fishing is patience and you must realize that your not going to catch fish everytime you go out.

If you have a boat, a sonar fish finder is helpful.

A good time to fish is right after it rains because all the bugs were knocked down onto the surface of the lake and the fish are feeding on them.
