South Africa winning the world cup rugby, why is it so hard for English people to admit they were the better team? I think the sooner we teach our children from a young age to be competitive the sooner they will learn to be good loosers.

  1. You know mate, sport has become so competitive and the supporters demand and winning team. We will look for excuses why our team lost and will be trying to convince others that something happened in the game to take the game away from us. It is natural cos we all are so passionate and love this game. As a South African, I am still overwhelmed ans just so happy. Great question thought mate.

  2. Stephen M football fans are not like that

  3. Stephen M obviously wasn't on here after the game either!!!

As it was full of English people saying how it should have been a TRY ?!?!?!!

It wasn't and they STILL haven't accepted it !!!

  4. If you teach children to be over competitve they won't be good winners or losers.  However I do take your point, that we should just admit on this occassion the best team won and we should strive to do better next time!

  5. Remember the theme song...(which I like)...know when to run...know when to fold up......count your money.....when the deal is done.....(prophetic Kenny Rogers!)

  6. The English do not understand the meaning of admitting defeat. We were spared the full avalanche of their very primitive paternalistic nature this time around, because they were just as surprised (and justly so) as the rest of the world by reaching the final.

  7. yes i agree with STEPHEN M , the English were gracious in their defeat.

  8. its only a game well done

  9. you obviously werent on here after the game because every question asked about the match was full of English people saying well done to south Africa.  In fact rugby fans are much better at such things than football fans who would probably just beat up the other fans

  10. Loosers? You mean losers. In any case SA did well and beat England and I for one have no problem with that.

Teaching people to be competitive does exactly the reverse of what you have stated, after all, it does not matter whether you win or lose, until you lose!

  11. You got the wrong game mate - you are thinking of football supporters (and players and managers etc)
