use cherrioes in the toilet and tell him to hit them. And believe me they love it.

Target practise the cheerios one seems to work.

And it's along the lines of sitting still when getting a haircut - nearly impossible.

So many get conflicting info-- they are told not to touch their "privates" and that it is bad to do so or is "dirty", then told to aim when peeing. No wonder kids are confused.

I'm with robert2, I never had any problem. It just came naturally. But we don't sit down and pee so don't teach a boy to do that.
