They are very diverse and unique to the world. Wetlands sustain many orgainisms that cannot live anywhere else. They help with flood control, a lot of wetlqand plants can purify water to some degree. there are many other import reasons as well.

Other areas that are important are grassland prairies. High crop prices are making farmers want to till up more parie to plan more crops.
