...like cleft lip, a midline facial deformity, ect. - but not as acceptable to get a boob-job/nose-job? Also what would it mean about someone if they are more opposed to the former than the latter, instead of vice-versa? Also, what would it mean about someone if they are more annoyed by people who try hard to be accepted by their peers and not be outcasted, than annoyed by people who are social climbers trying to become popular?

  1. it's called vanity, nothing wrong with getting a tooth fixed, but having bejeweled caps is viewed as just vanity "he look at me".  same with cleft lip compared to Boob job.  most boob jobs are for woman who cannot deal with the natural aging process, because they are so obsessed with there appearence (very shallow people). whereas for a physical deformation, such a a cleft lip, it' accepted becuase isn't viewed as "bells an whistles " surgery, but just "basic corrections".   as too the secnd question, why concern your self with either type of people, I don't give a care about anyones opinion of me, nor do I care to social climb,  poeple is just people, money, looks, ambition etc is all vanity, done for no reason except to promote ones self, which is pointless in the end tally of anyones life.  It's the heart that is weighed in all matter in life, not the material.

  2. I think it has to do with societal norms.  We notice those who are visibly different - many would call those people below average physically.  Those who get enhancement surgery are striving to be above average physically.
