Many are conservatives who take politics to extremes.  If liberals, environmentalists, or worst, Al Gore says something, to some conservatives it must be wrong.  No matter how many scientists are saying it too.

It also bothers some conservatives philosophically.  If you accept _global_ warming, you must accept the need for international action toward a solution.  Some conservatives can't stand that idea.

Serious intellectual conservatives also know it's real, and try to convince their fellow conservatives to stop the political nonsense.  Two eminent examples:

"National Review (the most prestigious conservative magazine) published a cover story calling on conservatives to shake off denial and get into the climate policy debate"

the problem that i have is that the global warming alarmists claim that it is man made, but they have no real proof. understand that co2 is a lagging indicator NOT a leading indicator. understand also that co2, and methane and other greenhouse gases are produced naturally also, and in larger quantities than what man puts out.

if we look at the geological record we will find that the earth has been much warmer in the past as well as much cooler. we can also look at these records and find that each time the earth warmed, the sun was in a high activity phase, and when the earth was cooler the sun was in an inactive phase.

one thing to consider, if man made global warming was truly an issue, then why didnt the kyoto accords, the bali talks, and the current round of GW talks force ALL nations to reduce greenhouse gases, and not just the developed nations? the truth of the matter is that man made global warming is a myth perpetrated by people who wish to gain power over the masses, and make money.

I believe global warming is a myth for many reasons.

To answer what you asked: We do not know that CO2 causes a rise in temperature. The charts show temperature going up and down with CO2 levels. What they don't tell you is that the CO2 line lags AFTER the temperature line. The CO2 level is a result of the temperature. Not the other way around.

90%-95% of greenhouse gases are just water vapor (clouds). The rest is methane, N20, and CO2. We have released very little CO2 compared to the amount already up there.

I would love to beat this issue to death, but I'm too tired.

Scientist Implicates Worms in Global Warming

  Jim Frederickson, the research director at the Composting Association has called for data on worms and composting to be re-examined after a German study found that worms produce greenhouse gases 290 times more potent than carbon dioxide.

Worms are being used commercially to compost organic material and is in preference to putting it into the landfill. The German government wants 45% of all waste to be composted by 2015.

"Everybody... thinks they can do no harm but they contribute to global warming. People are looking into alternative waste treatments but we have to make sure that we are not jumping from the frying pan into the fire," said Frederickson.

Global Warming is a misnomer.  It is a sensationalist term that was coined in the 80's because that was the running theory.  However, today we DONT KNOW whether there is a general warming trend or cooling trend - but we know that things are changing. One thing to keep in mind is that science is not black and white - so we can't say for sure that the earth in general is warming.  

The more accurate term is therefore CLIMATE CHANGE.  Some scientists say that global climate change might be natural, because the earth is not in a perfect orbit, we are on an elliptical orbit so over the course of 100,000 (i think this is the timeframe) the earth will have a shift in the climate.  However, there is a problem with human behaviour, pumping not just CO2 but other greenhouse gasses that scientists think are simply making this natural change greater and faster...kind of like rocking a boat that's already in rocky waters (picture that).  SO that the colder areas get colder and the warmer areas get warmer, and on top of that we have major cities pumping out heat into the atmosphere to make it worse in cities.  It rains more, snows more, and the weather systems begin to get more dynamic and unpredictable.  Of course, this is all strongly defended theory.  

That said, there is nothing wrong with wanting to cut your greenhouse gas emissions!  There are many other benefits (like health benefits).

The problem is that modern day Man has solved all the important problems, like gathering food, shelter, or providing for the family.  There are people that see that they have life easy, so they 'create' a problem literally out of thin air...  Therefore, we have AGW or GW.

Need more proof?  Look at this chart, I know, I know,  you've seen a lot of charts that say GW or AGW is really real.  No, really take a look at this chart.

Ice age, see the pattern...?  Still think it's going to get warmer...?  Yeah, there is a lot of squiggly lines there, but see the pattern...?  We've probably got, what?, another 15-20,000 years before it gets colder again...  We'll all be long dead before then, so why even worry.
