Question:

Why is it such a big deal to let kids watch films?

There have been made age classifications on films. However growing up we never followed these classifications. I think I turned out fine. I am not violent or a psychotic criminal. My parents raised me to know the difference between right and wrong. So I do not get why some parents are so into following the age classifications. I will let my kids watch whatever they feel like. If they can't handle it, they will ofcourse lose the privelege.

  1. What, is everyone on crack???

The films that are produced now are so realistic and so violent. everything has ratcheted up 10 notches in the last 10 years!! Watch some old films and see if you disagree.

IT isn't like they are watching a coyote get killed by an anvil, you know.

  2. movies today are not the same as we watched as kids. they are more graphic and violent now with a tons more s*x.

I don't want to shelter my kids, but I don't want them learning about the world threw movies that are fake.

I live in a boring little town that is mostly middle class suburbs were nothing ever happens. when a deer gets hit by a car that is front page news ok. So why then are the kids running around dressed and acting like little gangsters and thugs??  making up gangs to hang in..  the only place were they could learn that is tv and movies. they certainly did not learn that from their borning middle class white family!!   so yes... tv and movies do influence kids.

  3. I agree, it was the same way when I was child...Seeing adult films just made me wiser, realistic & more grown up for my age.

  4. I am sure that people care so much because kids have a thing where they like to copy movies.  I don't let my son watch certain films until I explain to him that what he watches is all fake.  I rather him copy a movie that is age appropriate for him.

  5. i agree

  6. Well I wont let my kids watch some movies because kids learn from what they see and hear and I wouldnt want my kids see what they arent ready to see. I dont want to take no chances

  7. There's an innocence a child should have and exposing a five year old to a R movie is not a good idea. I agree that parents should teach their kids between right and wrong. At the same time the rating is there to protect your child because there are some things a child does not need to see or hear at a certain age.
