  1. Did you thin the plants once the seeds sprouted?  If you failed to do that, they'll all be tiny because they over-compete for available nutrients from the soil.  They'll taste just as good - but be a  real pain in the butt to clean and prepare for the pot 'cuz they're so small.  Better luck next year!  Oh - and be sure your fertilizer is aged at least a year and mix it in well as you prepare the seed bed.  If you ever decide to use chicken manure, let it age two years, otherwise it's liable to kill the young seedlings if you use too much.

  2. Maybe they didn't get enough water.  That'll slow vegetables down.  I don't know about how tall they should be, I don't grow beets.

  3. Do you mean Beetroot? Depends on what was in the dung? Have you checked the actual root? Beetroots don't usually like too much manure as it goes to the leaves and not to the edible root.

  4. Depending on how many crops you desire per season. Soil mixed with play ground sand. Soil 75/25 sand. Seeds should be soaked in water 24 hrs before planting. No seedlings need to be removed. Sand allows tuber to grow. When greens are big enough to eat in salads, usually about ten days later pick about size of golf ball or let grow to size of tennis. which ever you prefer.
