Why bother asking if you only want to hear one point of view?

  1. you hope to have your belief reinforced, and therefore block out all other beliefs in case they challenge your own.

Basically they want confirmation that they're not alone!

  2. I think they ask in vain.

They only want to see who's actually paying attention to them.

Or to see if there's at least one other person out there who thinks the same as they do so they could go back and tell someone else they're not alone or that they're right about whatever situation it's pertaining to.

Or they could just want to be finalized.

If they know that everyone would agree to what they believe is right, or what they want them to believe is right, they'll post it like that.

Manipulate the words to get your attention and turn you to their side of "Logic"

    I think that's what they're after.

  3. we normally just want the answers that we want to hear.
