Why is it that, when you look at someone, you immediately think whether they're "beautiful" or "ugly"?

It's always puzzled me how people can just look at another and say that they're ugly as h**l or hot.

Its just how were built. The most beautiful we want to reproduce with the ugliest get thrown to the dogs. haha

Because the only thing you can talk about someone you do not know  is their appearence...We can not see their persoanilities and they are only a guess...

Beauty and ugliness are main concepts in the life.Like richness, like money...

Because we are a species designed to reproduce. Thus we evaluate each and every person we encounter as a mate as soon as we see them.

it is human nature to like something beautiful...especially someone of the opposite s*x.

so naturally once u see someone, ur brain will automatically judge him/her...though i believe its not always just beautiful or ugly..alot of times is ok, avg, abv avg...etc

This is Natural but differs from society to society. What is beautiful is determined by the social circle you move in and the society you belong and the media that confirms it,

It is almost immediate because it is human nature.(same with other animal species)

Well the first trait you see of someone is how they look. The idealism of beauty can be sexual, though looking at beauty for other purposes are beyond me.

By the way, "that's how it is" is probably the most damaging and evil statement ever stated.

I think society has a big part of influence in it. They make it seem that only looks are important and nothing else. Basically, if we hear it so much, we may become influenced to do or say it. It's like it becomes imprinted on our mind, half the time without really knowing it.
