  1. You sound like you may still be a kid.

Forget about it. et a high paying job and think smug thoughts about your foster parents

  2. First,  you were not a sucker because you were in foster care as that was not your choice.  it was someone else's decision or someone else's problem.  Had  your parents been able to take care of you properly you wouldn't have been in foster care.

I am not aware of any rules that would require foster children to get any allowance or any other child in a family to receive any certain allowance.  Some families give allowances, some have kids work for the money they get and others just pay for the things they approve for the child to do.  And some kids must pay for their lunch from the allowance they receive, or get clothes etc.  And that is determined by the family.  If there is any rule on an allowance for a foster child, I sure am not aware of it.  The state does pay the family a small stipend for the care of the child and that includes housing and general expenses of living.  Many times the state pays an allowance for clothing in addition to that. So the "allowance" that is given is for the parents for the support of the child but there is no allowance for the child to receive in a certain dollar amount for spending money. Or I am not aware of it.  I was a foster mother at one time for about a year.  But had a 3 year old. And different states are different as to the family allowance (support money the parents get) or the way clothing is provided.  when a child comes into foster care, he often have the clothes on their backs.  Many times they have been traumatized as well as some are abused and sometimes major changes have occurred in their homes.  They often don't want to be in foster care but their parents don't want them or much more often, temporarily can not care for them so they are in foster care until the parents can get things together and again care for the child.  Good luck to you.  I hope you got a family who did care and who tried to teach you to discipline yourself and to work to get what you want in life.  I am not a registered attorney so this is not a legal opinion.

  3. That's $10/month more than most kids in foster care get.

  4. I don't understand why you would think you are a sucker for being put in a position you had no control over, about the allowance, i nor my 5 siblings, received an allowance, without doing farm labor from the time we were able to walk, were we suckers?
