  1. Growing up g*y, I always found that society can accept a girl/ woman being tough much easier than a boy/ man being soft.

  2. Hi, there I live in Savannah where the girl scouts of America was founded by Juliet Gorden Low. I gues it has to do with the fact that at the time it was founded girls weren't allowed to join the boy scouts so out of this came the decision to start something similar for girls. So hence, if the belief by juliet gorden Low was that girls have the same opportunities as boys it would seem that an organization that believes in diversity would be more open minded.

  3. It has nothing to do with women being more understanding than men. It has to do with how the two organizations do business and how they are incorporated.

The Girl Scouts are a corporation and wholly own every GS troop in the country. The corporation can make a rule and every troop has to go along with it. The membership standards are the same for everyone.

The National Boy Scouts corporation only owns the program materials and distribution process. Each Boy Scout Troop is a franchise. While technically, they are all supposed to abide by the same rules, there are certain things a troop can do to make its membership less or more restrictive. A BS Troop owned by a Mormon Church could say that it is only going to allow its leaders to be Mormons. Mormons have a different interpretation of religion than a Catholic Church does, so the Catholic Troop may only want it's leaders to be Catholics.

  4. It's because heterosexual men are more homophobic about other men and uncomfortable about their own feelings of uncertainty.

I have my doubts that The Girl Scouts are any more tolerant of non-Christians, especially non-believers, than are the Boy Scouts
