People answering questions similar to "I can't take my pet to the vet because I don't have money right now" with "If you don't have money to take them to the vet, then you shouldn't have an animal"?

Do people not realize that not everyone has money flowing out of their *** 24/7?

Perhaps that person is going through a rough time with money right now,and can't afford it.

This isn't a rant,I'm curious as to why people do this.

Earlier I was simply trying to get help for my kitten when instead all I got was answers from people who wanted to tell me I shouldn't even have him. I am trying my best here to take care of him,and yet nobody wants to give me any advice other than"you shouldn't even have him".

Thanks for reading =)

  1. well, on a personal note, i budget a specific amount of money for each dog. i have 13 dogs right now. my doggy budget is about 1200.00 per month. vets, food, treats, bedding, toys etc. my vet gets a 50.00 "retainer fee" to go on my account just in case something unforseen comes up.

if i can't stretch the budget to care for another dog in need, i try and move the dog along to a new home as fast as possible.

you do the best you can, but remember, phone calls to your vet are FREE and if you're on top of the cats medical stuff, the vet will be able to advise you over the phone.

my vets are so comfortable with me,  if i needed to, they'd let me make payments. MOST vets will do this.

  2. I'm sorry, I just can't help you out 4 this time.. bye..

  3. People who answer regularly grow very tired of seeing " My dog broke his leg, but I can't afford the vet right now. HELP!" There are constantly people that have pets with potentially serious health problems who are looking for home remedies when it just isn't something you can help without a vet. Perhaps answerers could be a bit more polite about it, but it just gets to be frustrating because SO many people are asking questions like that. Don't take it too personally.. It's just that if there's something seriously wrong with an animal, it's the owner's responsibility to get that animal care. If they have to sell something or borrow money to get it, that's what they have to do. I know I started saving little by little and have a "vet fund" set aside for any emergencies with my pets. That's something you should start up if you haven't, in case of future problems. Hopefully you found a way to get help for your kitten!

  4. People have opinions about what is responsible and what isn't. Some of those people don't think through an answer before posting it, and fail to realise that what starts out as a good and responsible decision can - through no fault of the pet owner - turn into a financial problem.

Many pet owners acquire animals with no thought about the possible consequences (especially costs). That, to me, is irresponsible.

Many pet owners, however, acquire pets responsibly and suffer a change of circumstances which prevents them from being able to afford vet bills. That's unfortunate, but it's /not/ irresponsible.

    Good luck with your kitten.

  5. they are Irresponsible owners.they think pets are creatures not worth the money.

    b*****s......

  6. I think the reason they answer this way is because the person asking such questions doesn't tell us anything to make us believe that they have given 100% of an effort to try to find a way to take their pet to the vet. There are vets who will let you make payment arrangements. There are pawn shops to pawn the computer they are using to type a question on Y!A. There may be family members they could borrow money from until their financial strains are lessened. The second answer is not entirely incorrect. A good pet owner would do anything necessary to care for their pets. True, perhaps they didn't have such financial difficulties when they first got their pets. The economy has drastically changed in the past few years. That still doesn't change the fact that owning a pet is a responsibility. If they are not financially able to care for the pet as it should be cared for, they should find it a new home. There should be no excuse to provide less than adequate care for any pet. Sometimes it just takes a little effort, which, most of the people on here seem to have neglected to do.

  7. they're a lot of people in this world that get pets and dump them when they aren't as perfect as the animals they see on tv.  they don't realize that a lot of work and money goes into a pet.

i feel bad that you got a lot of nasty answers to you that was a serious problem.  but my pap will always get vet care over my eating if that's what it takes.

i've got the same vet for the last thirty years.  now my daughter's family if taking their pets there.  my income has dropped over half of what i was making.  but if i had to, i'm sure he would let me make payments.

  8. Because the best and most qualified care comes from a veterinarian. Most people asking for help get yelled at because their question goes something like- "my dog got hit by a car, do you think he'll be alright?" or "my hamster has a huge growth on her side, do you think it will go away?"

Always put money aside for emergencies.

  9. Because these people could attempt to take their pet to the vet. There are payment plans, they could take out a loan, sell some material items, cancel their internet subscription - anything to help a living thing.

If you have a problem with a KITTEN that implies it's under a year old, circumstances don't often change that quickly.

Plus if they were aware that their financial situation could change for the worse then they should have taken out pet insurance - if they can't afford pet insurance they shouldn't own animals.

  10. A lot of people state that they have only had their pet for a few days/weeks, and sometimes say that since they have only had them a short time they don't feel they should have to take it to the Vet. I know I have told a few people they shouldnt have their pet when these type of questions come up.

If you love your pet you would do anything to get it the help it needs.

We my not know what their money situation is at the moment but some people are asking questions that the owner should know before even getting the pet. The basics of the animals. And they don't even know them. So yeah some people should be told they shouldnt have their pet. Its just not fair to that animal.
