He gets an invitation every year he just doesn't choose to participate. I think he is gathering up dunks to amaze the crowd. In about 2 years I think he will enter the dunk contest just to give it a try.

Its not just LeBron. A lot of superstars dont participate. One reason is injury, and another is potential shame if they lose and do a really bad dunk.
