  1. Because they know that most people won't check into who put the legislation through so they can say the Republicans did it and the mainstream media will also help perpetuate the lie.

When the mainstream media is no longer unbiased they become the propagana wing of the party which is how it is in Communist courtries. So I guess you could say the Democrat party is the new Communist party.

  2. Congressman Charles Rangel introduced new legislation to reinstate the military draft that will include draftees up to 42 years of age.

Rangel says "I don't expect my bill to pass; my purpose in introducing this legislation is for it to serve as a constant reminder that we have lost 2,200 of the best, brightest and bravest Americans, have had thousands more maimed, and countless Iraqi citizens killed."

"The Pentagon's own researchers have reported that the military is broken and there's no plan to fix it," Congressman Rangel said.   "It's not unusual for active-duty and Reserve units to see two and three deployments.  Troops are spending about a third of the time on deployment, instead of a fifth of the time, as preferred, to adequately rest, train and rebuild units.

”Our military is more like a mercenary force than a citizen militia.  It is dominated by men and women who need an economic leg-up. Bonuses of up to $40,000 and a promise of college tuition look very good to someone from an economically depressed urban or rural community.  But, as events unfold in Iran, Syria and North Korea and become even more dangerous, at what point will the risks outweigh the attraction of money--even to the hungriest recruits?

  3. How about we introduce legislation into congress to fire all Government Employees including them! Let's face it, they are ruining a once great nation. After all, they work for us, we don't work for them. They have it all backwards!

  4. If the draft is necessary, ok, but is this just a political move to bring more negative attention to the Iraq war?  I think it is

  5. It's a ploy because most Democrats make the argument that only poor minorities serve in the military - by the way, this is false.  Conscription (the draft) would require people from all walks of life to serve the Dems think that would eliminate "war."  It is interesting that McCain has a son in the military in Iraq and he never mentions it.

  6. The best thing about a draft, is that Americans would unwillingly be sent to war. A draft would get the people into the streets again and force the government to get out of Iraq. These Democrats know the people will not get out en masse as long as these soldiers are going willingly. Our politicians are never afraid to sacrifice a few lambs to get what they want. Our soldiers are just pawns in their little games.

  7. Because he knows that the republicans will not support the legislation.

It is his attempt to embarrass them. You know blood, guts and glory, someone else supplies the blood and gut and they claim the glory.

Very few in this administration have ever worn the uniform and the usual

answer is that "they had better things to do".  Like protect there @ss and let someone else die for their country and then bad mouth those that did serve and receive medals for bravery.

  8. I'll tell you why.  That's Charlie Rangel, who represents a largely minority district in New York City.  His point is that the military is made up mostly of minorities or people who felt they didn't have as many options.  I mean, you're not going to say, "Gee, Harvard's accepted me, but maybe I should join the Army instead."

He also feels that the war would end sooner if the sons of the rich and powerful were in danger of being drafted into serving in it.  They seem to find it very easy to send other people's children to die.

As the mother of two sons of draft age, I am very opposed to the draft, and to the war in Iraq in general--and I've felt that way from day one.  I like Rangel and I understand what he's trying to do.  I just hope he doesn't succeed.
