Why is it that all olympic sports allow professional athletes except boxing?

  1. The reason being is that it is a different sport. The boxing in the olympics is quite strict. Firstly the head gear, then secondly its the 4 x 2 minute rounds and the scoring system is different.

    In professional boxing its 10 and 12 rounds and I think the round are 3 minutes, maybe more??

    So it's not the same and it would be difficult for a pro to adapt to the amatuer sport. Mostly it goes the other way. Most of the pros are ex olympians/ amateurs.
