if God (christian God) is real, why is that he never manifested himself to previous civilizations than biblical times?

why ancient civilizations worshiped other Gods? why do the Christian God never showed up before the biblical times?

if you say that it was the same God, but with different names or shapes, why is it wrong then to worship them?

  1. They were Demons, not gods.

  2. Have you heard the expression "Man created God in his own image"?

Cultures create their own gods based on their culture.  For each culture it is appropriate to worship/celebrate their own gods.

  3. Many did. And many do.

There is an aspect of the good in most religions and this is what makes them appealing to the seeker, ancient and modern. It has been said that "religion is man's effort to reach God."

The God of the Bible offers has entered into His own creation and come for us. This is one of the reasons the Christian God is different.

  4. you should read a book called eternity in their hearts...it talks about how almost every culture in the world has a tale pasted down from old times that is similar to Christianity...

  5. He did.

God was at the beginning of time and manifested Himself many times throughout the History of the world. I mean look at the History of the world based on other cultures.

The Chinese, Hawaiians, Native Americans, Sumerians and the Egyptians all have the same story of the flood. There was a man that translated to be Noah in all languages that gathered animals with the help of God, and then a world flood came and destroyed everything of the world. To date, there are over forty "ancient" cultures out there that accepted at one time there was one God who destroyed the world.

Now, others might accept the same God but by a different name, but the reason that it would be wrong to worship them is that Christ made it clear what we are to do to be saved. Those who haven't heard the Gospel, technically can make it to heaven in my opinion. Only God knows their hearts and what they've heard.

To date, the history of the Jewish and Christian God would date back to around the time of the Sumerians, which indeed was and is the first culture that we have written records for.

  6. Hello. You have a very interesting question. I hope you find the answer you are looking for; here is mine. I can't go into great detail, biblically speaking, so I'll just give an illustration in my own words to kind of explain. I'm not sure if you have children. I do. When people who have kids get divorced and remarry, the children have step-parents. Now, not everybody feels this way (same I believe where God could be concerned and individual beliefs), but my child would not be calling his or her stepfather or stepmother "Dad" or "Momma." Because nobody is really that except their original parents. Now, that's not to say that there aren't great step-parents out there where the children do feel comfortable enough to call them dad or mom. I'm just saying that although I can't answer on God's behalf, He is our Creator. The same as I am my children's mother. Somewhere inside me, even if I didn't show it, it would make me somewhat jealous to hear them calling somebody else Momma. And to me that's how I imagine God feeling. He created us for Himself. He made us. Why would we give credit, worship, or idolize anything or anyone above the one who gave us life? I hope this helps.:)

  7. ...and since Jesus/Christian God is the only way to heaven, every human who lived BCE is now in h**l.

Not very fair, I admit, but that's dogma for ya.

  8. the Christian God is the same one worshiped by the Jews (and Muslims, all Abrahamic religions worship the game god). waaay back when the Jews actually believed in many gods but only worshiped one (hence the "no other gods before me" bit in the Commandments). if they believed in the existence of other gods then it reasons they do have some validity even if they're not the god of choice for the ancient Jews.

on another braintrack; given the fact how vast the world is, the fact different people see what they experience in different ways, at the time communities could be very isolated, and there wasn't really the ability for one group of people from one area of the world to exchange notes with people from another area it's entirely possible God showed himself to them but they just interpreted it different from the way historical Jews did.

if that's the case then in the end it's just one group arguing all the others are interpreting it wrong. heck, look at Christianity and you can see that just between the different sects of Christianity.

  9. I like this question, can't wait to see responses

    Here is a star

  10. As an Atheist, I've asked this question multiple times.  The only two answers I got were either that the devil pretended to be those civilization's gods, or that said civilizations didn't exist because they are older than the earth (if you use the Christian Bible as a timescale).

  11. I'm not sure what you're really trying to say?

Religion has been there throughout the history of Humanity. Well, at-least when Humans had the ability to comprehend religion. Do some research.

  12. this is an excellent question.. typical responses so far though :(

  13. So... you should tell God what he should and should not do...how he should reveal himself, to whom and when?

God never forces himself on anyone, and many people accept false gods, and have for a very long time.

He is who he is... we don't tell him our ways or what we need to satisfy ourselves to believe in him.

  14. Please list the names of other gods who are still worshiped by more than 5 million believers. If you don't respond, I will win. What I'm saying is the Christian and Islamic Gods are the same God and Buddhists and Confucians do not worship the Creator at all. Surprised? If so, some studies on oriental religions is recommended. Please take this message seriously:) Thank you.

  15. This is a very good point.

Maybe because the Christians are wrong :)

  16. They worshipped other god's because the devil decieved them.

  17. They were used to frighten and control the masses.

  18. You know...that is a really good question.  I'm guessing (and that's the best I can do here) is that it had something to do with Jesus, because as soon as Jesus did what he did, than the whole one God idea exploded on the scene.

And there were arguments about it in the Bible.  The apostles (Jewish) weren't sure that this was religion was for anyone but them.  Then (I think) Peter had a dream, and told the others that this religion was for everyone in the world.

For some reason, this world evangelizing had to wait until Jesus. Why, I don't really know.  Why was it limited to such a small group of people that really didn't have that much power?  Why didn't Jesus come down earlier?

    Really great question!

  19. What is this "Biblical times" you speak of ?  The very first words in my Bible say "In the beginning" God and Gods Word always have been, they did not just surface during the time of Christ. Jesus himself referenced the old testament all the time. The old testament was given to all the ancient prophets to give to the people. Just how old do you think the earth is? It is definetly no older than ten thousand years old, the "scientist" who teach this garbage are idiots. God did manifest himself to ancint people, Abraham comes to mind right off the bat. Who are these previous civilizations you speak of?
