I suppose that's the problem when you equate humans to animals due to what you were taught and then believe. You put less value on human life. I also think that people latch onto their political views and refuse to accept reality that unborn babies are not just blobs of tissue. Technology has now advanced to the point that we can see babies in the womb and believe me, they are not blobs of tissue.

You also would have to accept the fact that this is a moral issue rather than biological because it all boils down to birth-control. Abortion has become the last ditch effort for birth-control.

Believers of God believe that he is the author of all life. Only he has the right and authority to determine a man's days on the Earth. But, religion aside, abortion in and of itself is just plain grotesque. The tearing apart or saline burning of a partially formed human being is barbaric. How anyone could justify this act as "right" is beyond comprehension. If this is OK or right, then what in the world is considered wrong?

Forcing of morals is all.   Personally I think they should be able to make their own choice.

However... some atheists are still pro life and some of the other are pro-choice.  Generalization on your part.

Atheists don't have to deal with the concept of destroying a "blob of cells" as someone else put it or a human life.  They are allowed to make the decision in the United States because it is their right.  Believers in Abrahamic God have to define life and that it is defined at the moment of pregnancy therefore to them it is the same as killing.  Please note...I'm not saying abortion is good or bad...just answering the question.

Because atheists live in the real world, and understand the implications of unwanted births.  Abrahamic theists believe they live in the fantasyland the Bible tells them they should create.

What the Abraham deity offered was nothing more than servitude and worship to a itself.  It persists today.  As an atheist I understand that humanity is a species, not special within the confines of the nature by which it must exist.  It is not a special entity that needs the requirements of right, wrong, heaven, or h**l as indicated in a book and just ONE at best, as there is no other evidences anywhere, not to mention the challenges of the Islamic deity.  The one thing that makes mankind special [if anything] is it's faculty of reason as it can logically think and communicate in a more sophisticated manner then anything else within the naturalist world.  All faiths denounce sexuality in all its forms but has no problems in determining the rights of women to make choices for themselves, all based on a patriarchal deity from 2000 years ago, when women were chattel.  

As a species we therefore have the intellectual right to do what is right based on our own physiology and must have the right to live in the best way we seem fit within the naturalistic world.  We may or may not agree with every ones viewpoint but the judgments that are placed on our species by faith based beliefs fall short of the naturalness of our species and its world, which is by and large a spec within the total of where and what it is.

It is time that we as logically thinking people let the old gods of days long gone be left in ancient texts in libraries.  Let the ignorance of the days past lie in the depths in the darkened vaults of the churches that offer nothing more than salvation through their specific truths.  They should be given awards for the way they belittle the populace into thinking they alone hold the truth of life - begging for money all the way.  It is a shame that people actually pay good money, sometimes within hard times to be duped into subservience and cruedility of their minds.  Truth is free - You pay for lies.
