Why is it that aural noise is more irritating compared to visual noise?

Question

when watching a movie, for example, i find it really irritating when the sound has glitches but not as much if the video has it...

maybe it's just me...

I don't tollerate either one well, but I suppose it's easier to close my eyes than my ears.

Ears are much more sensitive than eyes.
