  1. Branded vcd/dvd players are formatted to play only the non scratch on brand new cd/dvd.

the Old vcd/dvd player is most good deal they play cd/dvd that have a scratched on. i have old cost is $29.99 with 2 mic. they play everything even have a scratched on cd/dvd.

I have new one cost $55.00 and would not play the cd/dvd that have a scratched.

Old have better sounds than the New one i have.

  2. Cheap ones are made to work that way..

    Minitek, Durabrand (Wal-Mart/Funai)

    Mustek..

SONY, Panasonic are made to not play PDTV VCD/SVCD/

Video CD. They can play some of them but not all. KVCD you can play those on a Philips with Ultra Divix DVD Player but not on Toshiba DVD Player. Depends which model and what chipset they have in there. I can tell you that Mintek models can play everything you create with a PC. You don't have to create media, you can save AVI, MPEG1/2 as RAW data and just use it as a HDD but on the CD to open the files to play.

  3. new ones are more sensitive so that they can pick up "better sound quality" but they also pick up the scratches. the old ones not so sensitive so the scratches aren't picked up...
