Why is it that different regions hv different kind of ghost??

i mean like the ghost in asia (china n south east asia) is usually like women with long hairs, nail,teeth..but in other regions such as us hv orbs n stuff..why???any suggestions??

Very good question.  The only plausible explanation that sits right with me is that ghosts are cultural artifacts.  They are not real, but rather are a part of the mythological fabric of a culture.

It's ridiculous to explain cultural differences by saying ghosts appear different on purpose to fit our individual understanding of what they look like.  That is nothing but apologetics.

Imo...ghosts appear to us in ways that we will recognize them or the person they were therefore culture, racial features, personal experiences of those they are attempting to contact, etc. are all taken into consideration.

The idea of ghosts seems to be part of the human experience.

What ghosts are is very much a matter of perception, and perception is based on cultural beliefs. Ghosts being dead people and appearing as a white mist, or orb is our modern cultureal perception.

Some cultures believe that every object has a spirit. Some cultures believe in leprechans, demons, etc.

Because of these, different cultural groups see ghosts very differently.

Its kind of like a stuffed animal that my son got out of one of those crane machines the other day. We don't know if its supposed to be a duck, a dinosaur, or a dog, because it kind of has features of all three. If you look at it, you might decide right off that its a duck, until someone else says, hey that looks like a dinosaur. Then you see the dinosaur.

Different places = different culture and lifestyle ...

Since ghosts mostly originate from cultural belief ,history , environment and lifestyle , different places tend to have diff ghosts .

Eg : Indonesia have "kuntilanak" ,a pale woman ghost with long , black hair

America have "Dracula" , "UFO" , etc

Japan have the "kappa" and "Yuki-onna"

et cetera ...

So , since these ghosts are ..oops ! were "supposedly" spirits of those who live din that particular place , I think ,  of course , their appearance is parallel to the belief , lifestyle and culture of the people who believe in them ...
