Question:

Why is it that every time I put a DVD or CD in my DVD-RW drive, the computer freezes?

& then, I have to shut it down improperly, restart it, & then shut it down PROPERLY. This is my Dell laptop. It's 3 yrs. old. I got the blue screen of death, & it said something about 1 of the drivers being messed up.

  1. You  may need to update your graphics drivers. It could also be that you don't have the correct software installed to play DVDs. I suggest you either call Dell or go to a forum somewhere on the internet with your system specs and see if anyone else can help you.  


  2. You need to go to the Dell Website, find your computer, and download the driver again.

    Something happened and it is corrupted so you need to install it again.

    Just go to dell.com and find the downloads section.

    If you have any issues, contact their customer support and they can email you either the link to the driver or the install file itself. (I don't know what they would do... Brother emailed me the drivers but the last time I spoke with Dell, they only linked me.)

    Good luck. It is a VERY simple thing when you get in to the download section.

  5. Could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software. This  problem can be solved by uninstalling new software, updating device drivers and making minor configuration changes .
