Talking about recycling.yet theres no questions other than this one in conservation, is it that the motives for recycling has been lost in the fact that europe will impose massive fines on the UK if we don`t meet their targets.

  1. Europe will impose fines on every country that doesn't meet its targets, not just the UK.

  2. I suppose it's because recycling is the most visible portion of the "reduce, reuse, recycle" mantra. People forget that it takes energy and resources to recycle things. It's always better to reduce consumption where possible, and if not reuse things and recycle only as a last resort.

  3. Here in the Staffordshire moorlands we started a recycling scheme a month or 2 ago, we have 1 wheely bin for garden waste/organic waste, 1 for general rubbish/plastic bottles 1 for stuff that can't be recycled and a bag for magazines/newspapers and even a little box for food scraps, it's a bit of a pain having to read the list on the particular bin for what can go in it but surprisingly everyone has embraced it and the council reported back that trips to the land fill are down 60% or so, we feel a sense of local pride about it, no idea about any fines.

So even though i don't talk about my trash on here, no worries i'm doing my small part just to help. What about you?

  4. There is another major motive, like the fact that we're running out of landfil sites. I get the impression environmental, energy saving and financial reasons would be of little interest to you.

  5. i think all the people should recycle
