Why makes our faith falter? Why can't it be strong all the time?

Put your hand in the hand of the man who stilled the water;

Put your hand in the hand of the man who calmed the sea.

Take a look at yourself and you can look at others differently,

By putting your hand in the hand of the man from Galilee.

Every time I look into the holy book I wanna tremble

When I read about the part where the carpenter cleared the temple

For the buyers and the sellers were no different fellers than what I profess to be,

And it causes me shame to know I'm not the gal that I should be

Momma taught me how to pray before I reached the age of seven,

When I'm down on my knees, that's when I'm close to heaven.

Daddy lived his life with a kid and a wife; you do what you must do

But he showed me enough of what it takes to get you through.

  1. Not so Inday. Wish I could agree with you, but during the worst of times one tends to lose faith.

BTW, your song wasn't available any more, so I had to pick out Elvis Presley version... yes very nice; brings back memories.

But back to the subject, even Jesus Christ, hanging on the cross, lost faith.

  2. good question!! I think when things are going well we tend to get full of ourselves, egotistical and self centered but luckily or unluckily there's always something to bring us down to reality.......nice song!

  3. Maybe because it is the only time that we remember God and His presence; the God whom we time and again shelve into the background of our lives when everything is sailing smooth in our life.  And because we believe that only through Him will we find comfort and release from the feeling of despondency; our faith becomes more stronger, more profound and more eminent.  It is knowing that God always listens no matter how sinful we are and so forgiving (77x 7 times) that encourages us to seek Him in the darkest moments of our life.

“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

  4. FAITH is just a religious word for belief.

Our lowest moments develops unknown fear.

    Unknown fear develops belief system.

Religion is a form of belief system based from unknown fear.

You are tend to be more religious for every unknown fear that is developing or been unanswered.

Instead of seeking the truth. people just believe on the system that satisfy them from their fear.

(You don't have to believe, if you already know the truth)

Religious tends to be emotional. Non religious tends to be rational.

I know myself (I know Jesus) I don't have to believe in Jesus.

I know my life's force of energy (I know my God) I don't have to believe in God.

I found the truth. i am fearless for i found Jesus. i found myself.

  5. unfortunately.. there are times that when the situation gets tough there are alot of people who breaks down.. u know people who have weak faith... sad but true

    the song is good..:P

  6. Our faith seems to be the strongest during our low times because during those times, and only at times like that, when we have done everything we can, when we already have nothing to give, when we are already completely helpless and our need is dire that we TURN TO GOD completely, wholeheartedly. It is during this time that we no longer doubt, the time when we RECOGNIZE HIM as our SAVIOUR, the only time when we GIVE UP and comletely place EVERYTHING entirely evrything in HIS capable HANDS...

  7. Because some men have tons of pride and an ego that can span the entire Pacific Ocean.

When things are going smoothly, he attributes it to himself.  He likes to think that his success is his own doing, not because God's helping hand steered him to it but when things become burdensome or not going his way, he asks God why it must happen to him, even blames Him for his difficulties.  In these instances, some men turn to the very same God that they spurned in their days of glory while others drift farther away from Him.

But isn't it overwhelming and at the same time humbling to know that despite our transgressions or even if we constantly fight His will with our ego, He is continuously looking after us?  Constantly loving us unconditionally?  Gratuitous love, indeed.  The highest form of love that is as unselfish as it is pure.

Also, it is in our nothingness that we realize that God alone is what we need.  In our darkest moments do we see Him as our light.  We cling to him the most when we are at our weakest.

God is enough for each one of us in every way and form.  He is all that we need and we should not just turn to Him only when difficulties arise.  Thank Him, praise Him, glorify Him for after all, life is not lived at its fullest if it is devoid of Him.

We mortal men must thus learn to live life not for our own glory but for His.
