Why is it that it seems like every generation changes for the worst and not for the better?

I always used to argue with my mother over how my era is so terrible when I was a teenager. Now I almost feel guilty for all those disputes with her about this subject. The worst thing you had to worry about happening to you was catching HIV/AIDS.(Not that that is any bargain either) My parents never needed to be concerned about me going to school and having a gun held to my head. I was sexually active when I was growng up, but I never became pregnant at only 14 or 15 years old or had kids out of wedlock nor did I want to. Granted, I am not one to judge anybody and I may seem somewhat old fashioned, but parents in nowadays do not spank their kids when they need to be or disicipline them like they used to. I am not saying that that is a mircle technique to teach your kids right from wrong, but it will catch their attention. I also think it is horrific knowing that teachers have s*x with their pupils in this day and age.

  1. Moral Decay.

  2. I guess every medal has two sides. You're looking at the worst one, for sure... For example: previous generations created Global Warming. The youngest are now trying to fix things. And yeah, things like drugs, guns, and s*x are more out there now but it's all relative. You have plenty of 14 - 15 yr olds not shooting their classmates, not doing drugs and certainly not getting pregnant. What you describe is a select few, basically because the good people just don't get on the news. I don't think hitting your kids is a good discipline, but I do get your point: they NEED discipline. And maybe it's because we don't have stay at home moms anymore (or not as much), so the kids basically raise themselves.....

  3. Things "back then" were just so simple, there weren't nearly as many options and more things were kept private. Now there are millions of options and things are very open and "out there" for everyone to see, so kids are learning, and they're learning younger and younger and making their own decisions with everything out there. It's kind of scary, I'm only 24 and I look at kids in high school now and think "holy c**p" I can't even imagine high school being like that and it was only 6 years ago!! I guess it's just part of evolution, but things seem to be changing much more quickly now, than before.

  4. See the first twenty minutes or so of the movie: Idiocracy

It's totally plausible and frighteningly accurate!

Basically, stupid people are breeding, and smart people are not - result: there are MORE and MORE stupid people.
