Question:

Why is it that it takes the Republican party to break the glass ceiling for women?

I knew that the Democrats wouldn't want to be the party to send a woman to the White House.

It figures that Republicans would be the ones to break the glass ceiling for women. If the Democrats get in the White House we will still have two men running things in Washington like it has been since President George Washington. What kind of change is that?

  1. didn't he vote against women's rights !!! and they now they needed to do something because they knew they couldn't win without a female !!!

  2. The glass ceiling isn't broken yet. If I'm not mistaken McCain and his VP nominee aren't in office yet... or did I miss something?

  3. It always is the republicans. Who appointed the Secratary of State (Colin Powell)? / (Condi-rice)?

  4. Hilary was a serious contender in this election and she was a woman remember? She just didn't cut the mustard, so that's why Obama's in. It could have very easily been the other way around.

  5. McCain/Palin for SUPER CHANGE. Top that obama!

  6. democrats ran a woman VP in 1984, looks like republicans are only 24 years behind

  7. I am sure that most Democrats would like to have a woman president, just not the one who was running this election.  Anyway, the Republicans haven't broken the glass ceiling yet.

  8. The "glass ceiling" is broken only if the McCain/Palin ticket is elected. The Democrats had a woman on the presidential ticket in 1984. So, it only took 24 years for the Republicans to show they are as progressive as the Democrats. Now, if the Republicans had selected a woman as the presidential nominee, that would have been impressive, but they didn't.

  9. After the way the Democrat party treated Hillary it is now up to the Republican party to put women on the map. Many women voters out there are angry over what happened to Hillary.

I don't think that all the women that voted for Hillary will automatically go over to McCain because he has picked a woman VP, but the way it looks now, he may pick up 20-25% of Hillary supporters.
