  1. Other species DO die from childbirth.

    Ask any vet.

  2. monkeys chimps and apes are not MY ancestors. if you want to believe they are YOUR ancestors, then go ahead and be a monkeys descendent. I am pureblood human thanks

  3. Not true.  Other animals can and do die in childbirth.  You don't hear about them because the news people don't go around trying to find such things.  I have seen cows die in childbirth.  James Herriot wrote about such things in farm animals quite a bit.  We are  not unique in that unfortunate circumstance.

  4. Sorry to see you think that, cause you are very wrong.  Any animal can be born still or dead.  It happens to all primates.  In the wild a baby born dead will not last very long.  It will be found and eaten.

  5. they do.. like the girl said.. chickens do. and that has happend to a few of my grandpas cows. So yea it happens.. Just mostly to us i guess.

  6. Animals, and for sure mammals, do die from complications of birthing their young.

Chickens die from an egg not developing well and breaking inside them.

  7. Although other animals can die in childbirth, humans do have a particular dilema.  Due to our distinct evolutionary history we have 2 competing forces of selection acting on women that make childbirth more difficult for humans.

Bipedality is a very economical method of locomotion, but to be most economical you have to have narrow hips.  Humans, for whatever reason also have evolved to have larger brains which means females need to have wider hips to have the head pass through the birth canal.  There is no limit to head size for quadrupedal animals because of the way the pubis can be angled, but there is a limit for human females.

So, humans in childbirth do have more complications than other animals, but this is not an exclusive problem.

Please don't assume that all animals would then evolve to have a bigger head size because that means they'll be smarter and have better Darwinian fitness.  First, although we seem to think brain size is corrolated with intelligence, not necessarily true.  Second, Natural Selection doesn't work that way.
