Why is it that most television directors in japan are male?

Aside from the sexism factor, TV directors in Japan work long, long hours and then go drinking with the boys. That's not to say a woman couldn't do the job-just that a woman wouldn't want to.

In order to become a director you would have to spend years being abused as an AD. It's bad enough for a male AD being around a crew like Takeshi gumi-they would really abuse a female AD.

must be either better workers or they cant cook rice and all the women do it in between that and fixin the actors make-up

In Japan, it's still a man's world, more or less. They have the higher paying jobs. It's slowly changing though.

EDIT:why all the thumbs down? My answer is 100% true. There is a lot of sexism in Japan. Buy a dictionary and look up the word.
