Why is it that only girls can ask superficial questions? GOSH?

I recently asked a question about Who is the Hottest Olympian, right? and what do i get as answers: OMG that is sooo superficial. Why do you care? They are athletes, they are talented, stop gushing over their hotness!

Does anyone find that if a girl asks a question about the hottness of guys (particularly famous guys) other guys retort with saying that we are superficial. It's OK however for guys to talk about how hot a female athlete, actress, person in spotlight, etc. No, THAT's not considered superficial. I just find it annoying, maybe even sexist, perhaps i'm going too far :]

Haha except conversely, women can ogle hot guys without penalty (e.g.  older women looking at younger guys are cougars, rawr), yet the older man who ogles younger women is a sleazy middle-aged perv.  You've seen the wife-husband at the restaurant, where the wife can comment that the waiter is cute but the husband has to pretend to go blind everytime the cute waitress walks by!

So I haven't actually encountered this problem with guys accusing girls of being superficial when they comment on hot guys, or rather, the accusations of superficiality go both ways (come on, let's admit it, whenever anyone checks someone out based on physical attributes, it is superficial --but it's fun! regardless of s*x).  I've never met any guys who pretended they were somehow not being shallow when talking about a female's physical attributes.

And it's a very sad fact because there really is no logical reason why females should avoid pursuing improvement of the intellect, thus avoiding appearing to be superficial.

You are correctomundo... and it will never change. It's a man's world and when a woman steps up to bat, the man can't handle it.

UPDATE: THIS IS TO "PERSON" I LAUGHED AT YOUR COMMENT ABOUT THE HUSBAND/WIFE COMMENTING ON THE RESTAURANT EMPLOYEES. WHAT YOU FAILED TO MENTION IS THAT WHEN THE WIFE THINKS A WAITER IS CUTE, THAT IS USALLY JUST INNOCENT OBSERVATION. I DOUBT SHE IS IMAGINING HIM MAKING LOVE TO HER. WHEN THE HUSBAND HAS TO CHECK OUT EVERY WOMAN THAT WALKS BY (OR HER BUTT), HE IS PICTURING HER NAKED AND IN HIS BED. I WOULD CALL THAT A BIG DIFFERENCE IN THE WAY THE SEXES LOOK AT OTHERS. This is not the exception, it's the norm.
