experinces just because they have never experinced the samething? Is it that we are "programmed" not to believe? I have seen many things in my life that I have had to learn on my own, or resort to dealing with it till I 'could' find the answer myself. I deal with spirits and half are not 'human' and almost everyone tells me I'm crazy or that they are evil yada, yada, yada. Is there somewhere where I can find others like my family and myself?

  1. No your not crazy, it's just that most serious scientists are artists as well. It's some what difficult to swallow when one is trying to discover new theorems and some else blurts out the answer before you are finished enjoying the task of the hunt for an answer so to speak.

  2. zoo?

    hades?

    cemetery?

    insane asylum?

    mental hospital?

    politics?

  3. oh, hey, hi!!     You know what sucks? I was taught to believe nothing I hear and only half of what I see. And I am on the side of someone who totally cannot show others the things that  I have to experience.

Most of the time this is a good philosophy to live by, but I'm sure not going to sit here and tell somebody else they are crazy for what they believe. That would be pretty hypocritical.

Maybe someday science "yeah right" will come up with a device that we can hardwire into our brains so some of our paranormal experiences can be seen by others.

Till then, poeple like some of us are just going to half to put up with it.

There are more of us out here than you think, we're just afraid poeple are going to harrass us or send us off with the men in the white coats, so we tend to be somewhat quiet.

  4. I have a hunch that what you call debunking, I call "looking for the most likely explanation". The most logical way to go about investigating something is to start by considering your most likely explanations, investigating to see if the explanation is a possibility, and then if you can rule that explanation out, moving on to the next likely explanation. If you follow this procedure, and no explanation pans out, eventually you'll find yourself in the realm of paranormal explanations. The caveat here, of course, is that there's no guarantee that you'll always (or ever) come up with a complete list of possible explanations to explore, or that you'll know how to investigate them. That's why the process of elimination is a fallacy when trying to show that a mystery must have a paranormal explanation. So, to put it succinctly, I am quick to use good logic in investigating a mystery, but not necessarily to debunk something that may not warrant debunking.

  5. Well, it seems to me the other way around.  Many people seem to jump to conclusions and explain events with extraordinary explanations, when a simple ordinary explanation is in order.

Anybody can say anything.  I can tell you I am a medium, believe in Leprechauns and fairies, and I saw 52 pink elephants walking around my house..  But that doesn't mean that any of it is true.

This is hard for the scientifically minded to swallow.

Although I do believe there are quacks out there.  I also believe that some people legitimately believe themselves to be psychics, mediums, etc.   But when put to the test, they can predict and do things no better than anyone else.

Instead of whining, etc., if one of these so called psychics would go and scientifically prove that they have some kind of paranormal abilities, then everything could be put to rest.  But you are going to find, that not a single one will.  They even get indignant about it.  Ever wondered why?

If you ever want to hear some of the biggest baloney, excuses,  and blather that you have ever heard, ask some psychic, why they don't go to James Randi's site and apply for the Million Dollar paranormal challenge.  Do it and listen to them.  Almost unbelievable.

  6. I'm not sure what experiences you're talking about.Presumably, if you ask questions.Certainly, you can't mind alternate explanations.Speaking for myself,I'm not "programed"not to believe.I just don't believe everything I hear. For instance you say you are in contact with spirits half of which are not human. Why would I accept that as fact or even possible? Why would anyone? Now If I heard you saying that on the street.I wouldn't confront you. You're free to believe what you want.If you ask the question here.I doubt many are going to accept it as fact. That includes both paranormal believers and non-believers alike.I mean no offense here, but be honest.Doesn't it sound a little crazy?

Edit.I think you misunderstand de-bunking.Here's an example.ESP,psychics, telekinesis have been tested many times.Failing virtually every test. With that information,we can say it is so far not demonstrated to be real.Subject to change if someone actually does it.That's De-bunking.Now not believing everything you hear. That's just good old common sense doubting.

  7. I have listed an article for you below that may provide some insight it concludes:

"Those who have had the experiences but encounter the debunking attitudes of apparent “scientific authorities” are likely to conclude that science is a dogma and inapplicable to important aspects of their lives. Vallee (1990) has suggested that debunkers “are among the primary contributors to the rejection of science by the public” and are “contributing to the growth of irrational movements in modem society” (p. 21). Ironically, CSICOP’s activities will likely inhibit scientific research on the paranormal and might potentially foster an increased rejection of science generally"

  8. Exactly!

"The grapes are sour", always says the fox when he cannot reach them.

Hang in there - you are not alone.

  9. You're not crazy, hon. I'm a medium myself, I deal in angels and spirits and animal spirits. Try a spiritualist church, or look at yahoo or MSN group websites. You gotta hunt around, but we're out there. :)

  10. THAT NOT TRUE!............................ Wait it is

  11. I happen to have reasons to believe that parapsychology should be elevated to a less controversial status, but the fact is that it could lead to ridicule and possible career damage in much of the scientific community. This problem is compounded by the existence of charlatans and con artists who don't exactly lend credibility to those seriously studying PSI phenomena. Picture a researcher trying to get a grant for PSI experimentation as opposed to a more mainline science. Does it help the cause to have psychic hot line commercials and fortune tellers all over the place trying to make money? Some things make it hard for serious researchers to get funding or even legitimacy.

  12. Why are people so quick to believe in something that has never been shown to exist?  Why are they so quick to dismiss a perfectly rational natural explanation in favor of some of-the-wall idea?

  13. Actually I find many of the people here who are debunking people quickly are doing so because they have experienced something and simply dont jump to the conclusion that its paranormal.

Just because you dont understand something immediatly doesnt make it paranormal, nor does it mean that other people do not understand it.

Keep an open mind, dont close it to the truth because you want to believe in some magic hocus pocus spirit explaination.
