  1. That's only in the movies. In real life people imagine paranormal events anywhere and everywhere. Some folks can't go one day without making up a spooky yarn.

  2. Paranormal events happen anywhere.  New homes or businesses that are built on land that has paranormal events associated with them will have activity as well.  I have personal knowledge of one familys  home was infested with activity caused by entities on the property that they built on.  There are cases where a family decided to tear down a house and rebuild after having experiences in the old home.  the activity continued in the new home.

Of course it makes for a better story if the home or property is old and creepy looking.   But real life does not owrk that way.  It doesn't matter.

  3. They don’t happen at all, it’s people’s minds playing tricks on them because they are in creepy places. Ghosts don't exist, only gullible people who will believe everything they are told and people who make up stories about those kinds of things

  4. Well, if you believe in paranormal activity, which I'm assuming you do, It usually takes place in "old creepy places" due to the history. More things have happened in older houses and areas than in new buildings. Paranormal activity is mostly the product of the past visiting the future.

  5. Not true. Anyplace or time of day events can occur.

  6. Because it only happens around idiots.

  7. Anything that was built yesterday is older than today, so how old is old and what is your definition of creepy?  -- perhaps something with bugs and slime and mildew on the walls?

My last place was supposedly 'haunted' and it was what is called a townhouse in Australia, about 11 years young and we had a poltergeist.  However, having said that, ghosts can linger in situ so if the house they died in was bull-dozed, there is a possibility that any ghost is roaming the area where the house once stood, even though the new building has been built in its place.

I use the term 'haunted' loosely because I do have a scientific mind and I was somehow able to make up excuses for why things were happening, even though I found it difficult to believe the explanations I came up for the unusual activity.

Let's just say, I asked around about the history of the place after certain things started happening and then a neighbour gingerly explained that a car had reversed over the hill slope above us and crashed into our kitchen and the old man in the car died.  She even told me that they had three separate lots of tenants before us within a year and the place had been vacant for 6 months as most of the people in the area somehow knew about it and somehow, something in the place always spooked people.  Since we had been there for six months without incident, she thought that maybe the ghost had left or just found us ok to live with. BTW, she was a devout Christian and hearing this from her mouth truly sounded strange.

I guess, if I had known about the event beforehand, I might immediately have succumbed to my imagination and thought that it had to be ghosts, but as it is, I remain sane about the happenings and put it down to major electrical surges and faults in the local electricity supply line.  That's probably why things just fell off furniture before our eyes and music turned itself on full blast and we had two electrical fires start up and nearly gut the kitchen with flames.  Either that or I'm an awful cook and am deaf to music that was already on, but down low.  Yes, that must be it!

Nothing old and creepy about that!

  8. Spirits don't linger in places where there are lots of people, noises, and very active modern life. They prefer places where they can be at peace and where people don't usually go. Elementals and nature spirits are afraid of modern way of life. It is generally believed that the best place for a spirit to stay unharmed is a place where you can see lots of fireflies at night.

  9. That is not true. Ghosts can be anywhere anytime. New structures are haunted just as much as old ones.

That theory needs to be discarded along with the theory that ghosts only happen during traumatic or unexpected deaths. It is like saying that people become ghosts and places are haunted only if something like suicide or violent deaths like car crashes or war conflicts.

My first encounter with a ghost was in an old house but a very small house in good condition and the man who haunted it did not die unexpectedly but of old age and lengthy illness due to old age.

  10. foul environment is the cause for dirty imagination.

  11. be new ones there may be because they are built in a given place

  12. Because no one's died in new houses. My house isn't old and creepy (about 20 years old) and I have 3.

  13. They don't only happen in creepy old places.

A lot of times a "creepy" feeling is caused by sensitivity to Electromagnetic Fields and isn't paranormal at all....

However I've investigated several houses that are younger than 20 years that had some very interesting activity. This can be because of events that have happened on the land or on the foundation of the house....sometimes it has to do with something the homeowners have brought in either intentionally or unintentionally...and on the very rare occasion something may just have followed them from somewhere and taken up residence in their house.

"Old Creepy Places" aren't always haunted...but people often expect them to be which can lead to an overactive imagination. However, with a longer history, there is more of a possibility of tragedy occuring and an energy becoming trapped somewhere.

Paranormal activity isn't necessarily "ghosts," though. Paranormal just means anything that is above the normal...it's things that are unexplained by what we know and understand. "Orb Activity" is a completely natural phenomenon that can be recreated by electricians and has absolutely nothing to do with spirits. Why they occur naturally, I'm not sure, but that is why some people label them as paranormal...most photographs of "orbs" are actually light reflecting off of particles in the air.

While true paranormal activity is somewhat rare, it does exist...I've personally seen it and experienced it while I was in a completely objective and calm state of mind...and actually was thinking that quite a few of the places I was in were "inactive" until things started happening.

So whoever it was that said paranormal activity doesn't exist is severely mistaken. But unfortunately for those of us who work in the field, there are a lot of skeptics and non-believers who, despite the fact that we can present solid evidence, refuse to be open-minded. That's ok, though, because they'll have their eyes opened someday. And I know what I've seen and it was pretty cool. :)

  14. Um, the power of suggestion?

I think based on reports of hauntings it's pretty clear that when a person is prepped to see a haunting he will be more likely to experience one.  A spooky atmosphere, along with the old "this place is reportedly haunted" set the stage nicely.

  15. That was in the sensible old days. Now ghosts do their haunting by playing Teletubbie clips.
