Question:

Why is it that people like to assume and blame everything that goes wrong on Liberals?

For example, today, I read a story in the Dallas Morning News about a s*x offender who attacked a child. When I was reading the comments, some people said it was because of liberals in the courts. Last time I checked, there were and still are conversative judges in the courts. How do they explain high crime rates in cities deemed conservative and highly religious? I am not taking sides here as I am moderate, but I have noticed alot of blame thrown at them. Why? And please, no ad hominem attacks, provide proof to any claims. I would also like to know more about both sides. Thanks!

  1. Because it works to get people in office. Screaming fits and hysteria get more votes then debate. Not that the liberals are any better, but thats a time tested conservative strategy.

  2. Crime and big cities just go together no matter if the area is supposedly conservative or liberal.  There are a couple of things I would like to point out.

It is more likely that liberal policies by a city would allow more minor crimes like vandalism or loitering because liberal cities tend to not support proactive policing.  I am thinking about the homeless in San Francisco or NYC in the liberal 70’s & 80’s as compared to now.  I cannot think of very many major Cities that are actually conservative.  Dallas is in conservative Texas but I bet you it has more Democrats than Republicans.  Cities are usually liberal because the urban poor, rich liberals and more of a general acceptance of a socialist lifestyle.   Liberal or conservative really does not matter when you’re talking about the mentally ill like sociopaths or child molesters, they can be anywhere but it is easier to be a criminal in a big city then a small town so I think all large cities attract a disproportionate number of scumbags. Of course “liberal” judges are really not the only problem controlling crime.  Usually the whole system is broken.  Criminals are not caught by the police, or they are given plea agreements by overloaded prosecutors, or they are let out of jail (in which no rehabilitation takes place) early because of overcrowding.  But to the public a judge giving a minimum sentence to a repeat child molester is inexcusable.  Some liberal ideals about being tolerant to all sexual attitudes and that punishment of the offender is counterproductive to rehabilitation are blamed for allowing sexual predators back on the street.  Cities are not black or white, red or blue and there is not an extremely conservative/traditional major city left in this county.  Now if Salt Lake City started hanging repeat violent offenders in the streets old school style and the number of rapes, murders and child abuse did not drop, you might have a point about conservative justice not making a city safer.  Otherwise, big cities in the county are pretty much in the same boat when it comes to crime and justice.

  3. I don't

I blame it on the conservative facist b@stards!!

    POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!

    Ahem...

    Sorry about that.

  4. Argh. That is so annoying. Seems one group likes to blame the other for problems..and there is a small but very vocal group of conservatives in the media, so hence we see more blame put on "liberals."

  5. The same reason why liberals blame the conservatives. Or why people blame bush for things that Congress has the power to change, or why people blame  the Congress for things that the Supreme Court ruled on... it is ignorance of how the system works, and they don't even follow what their own leaders do or don't do. Plus, if it is a newspaper that is known to be conservative, they will always put blame liberals, and vice versa. It's just putting blame on others so we don't have to take accountability for ourselves.
