Question:

Why is it that people of size do not like to shower often?

I have a few friends that are large in size and all of them hate to shower and wash their hair. All three of them tell me that they dread showering. Do you think seeing themselves naked makes them sad? I doubt that smelling bad makes them feel good about themselves. Plus it makes large people elsewhere get a reputation for being smelly.

  1. maybe they feel heavier on their feet so they hate getting up? sorry to bigger people if this offends you.

  2. So....because your 3 fat friends don't like to shower, all overweight people must not shower?

    ....nice

  3. 1) Most folks who are of the size, cannot find a shower BIG enough to accomodate them.

    2) A shower that big, often doesn't have traction.  Would you want to be that heavy and trip onto a shower floor?

    3) Places that do have such, are usually public pools full of smart asses who feel it necessary to comment 'loudly' about the big folks.

    4) Some of them have problems reaching the "hard to reach' places.  Care to help them out with a washcloth?

  4. They never formed good hygiene habits. I am a big girl, and let me tell you something..I LOVE to shower, and do my hair and make-up and look nice (aside from being big.) Seeing myself does not make me sad, but rather motivates me to live the healthy lifestyle I've already started living. I think you just have friends who are slobs.

  5. uncomftable in there skin as they say

  6. Uh...I don't know any plus size people that say that.  I'm a size 22 and I can't say I "dread" showering.

Perhaps it's hard for them to get in and out of the shower? If they're heavy and out of shape I could see how the whole process of washing could be a daunting task.  On the other hand, there are lots of heavy in shape people who don't have this problem.

I'm not really concerned about them giving plus size people a reputation for being smelly.  Anyone who makes judgments on a whole group of people based on your three friends is a bigot/prone to believing stereotypes.

  7. Maybe thats just your friends. I know skinny people who dread showering.
