how long did you apprentice, who was it under? Do yo really know what you're talking about? Are you sure about that? If yo paused at any of ths questions you should probably not be giving advice that could very well be detrimental.

  1. get over yourself. I am neither a tattooist or an apprentice. However I am very interested in body art, have quite a bit of ink myself and intend on being covered. I hang out at my studio all the time with my artists, ask questions and absorb information about the process so I feel I have enough knowledge to answer the majority of the questions that are asked on this forum.

    Have a nice day.

  2. The only thing better than people giving other people bad advice that they really know nothing about is people asking other people for bad advice... for example 98% of all the tattoo related posts say something like this....

"Hey complete stranger, you don't know me & I don't know you, but hey will you pick out a tattoo for me to have permanently placed on some part of my body. I mean it is ok just pick whatever I haven't put any thought into it what-so ever but I just want to look cool for everyone else and really don't understand that a good tattoo will have a special meaning or be symbolic of something."

  3. haha good point I don't like when people do that.

    P.S. I love that you're a tattoo artist!

  4. After reading some of the questions and answers the past couple days I was thinking the same thing. It's not that we care about the "do you like my tattoo" questions, and many people give very good and logical answers to some of the general type questions but there is enough debate among the artists themselves on things such as aftercare and problematic healing, that coupled with the average tattoo collectors' answers makes for one huge state of confusion.

I am particularly troubled by the "my boyfriend/girlfriend, brother, husband" is a tattoo artist answers.  Many of them are completely off the wall and some even dangerous like prescribing medications at ridiculous doses with no knowledge of their effects.

Also, just because someone here tattoos, does not make them a tattoo artist.  There are more back alley scratchers on here giving away advice that is totally out their a**.

While I am at it, I am also troubled by the amount of people coming here for tattooing 101 answers and so-called artists are leading them by the nose ring to disaster.  No one should be giving answers on things best learned through an apprenticeship and if they can't get one, well then - there has to be a reason.  The industry has enough crappy to mediocre artists that barely can tattoo from flash.

  5. Tattoo artists aren't the only ones who can read and write and think.  I've been interested in tats for YEARS and have read about and studied the techniques, etc.  I've spent many hours talking with reputable artists and found answers to many questions.  Just because I'm not an artist doesn't mean I don't have the knowledge and answers to effectively answer many questions posed here.

Did you read the answer from the tattoo artist who wanted to use hemorrhoid cream on a healing tat?  Just ridiculous.

  6. I completely agree with you, I've been in the industry for years and have to scratch my head at some of the "experts" I see in this forum.

And even to this day, I find myself learning new techniques for tattooing and aftercare all the time... I few weeks ago I went to the Convention in Pomona and spent about three hours one on one with Mike DeVries, since I also use neuma machines he had a lot of tricks I hadn't yet thought of... wow, amazing how much a professional can learn.

OH, and for the guy who said he's read a lot on tattooing and the techniques... I've read a lot on heart surgery and the techniques, ou gonna let me cut you open? Didn't think so... there's a difference between advice and a professional opinion, I hope people keep that in mind.

Just my $0.02, take it for what it's worth.

  7. This is a public website. Askers are aware that people of any age, profession, nationality, etc. can anwer. This is Yahoo!Answers...not WebMD! It's just for fun!
