Why is it that people with "small" minds always win the lotto?

A NY sanitation guy, Martinez, who my father used to work with, won $3 mill many years ago, what did he do? Kept working, that's it. A year ago, some guy in Indiana or wherever won $300 million and it was gone soon enough cuz he had bad spending habits. And just recently, two elderly people won it in Minnesota, kept their jobs, and gave money away.

You know what I would do? I would use some of that to finance a couple of low budget films, my dream is filmmaking, I would get myself, my girlfriend, and our families out of work so they can relax, make time for themselves and do what makes them happy. I would get a bigger house not a mansion but just something with just enough space, probably get 2 more houses (one in LA cuz the film biz is there and one far away from everything, like on an island, thats it). I wouldnt go CRAZY with it, spending it on 8 cars, 10 houses, big jewelry, drugs, prostitution, needless c**p, etc.

Ain't it weird how people w/ little minds always win?

  1. OK, I'm in.

People with "small minds", as you say, don't always win the lotto. I'm sure there are some individuals with "big minds" win from time to time. There are two reasons that I would give to explain the way you feel:

    - People with "small minds" are a better story. You hear the stories about the dolts who waste the winnings or do stupid things with the money because the media reports that stuff to make everybody that didn't win the lotto feel better about themselves.

    - The odds of winning the lotto are mind-boggling low. A larger percentage of "small-minded" people play the lotto, therefore, you would logically conclude, a larger percentage of "small-minded" people would win. On the contrary, the "large-minded" (or "smart") people don't play the lotto. They find a better way to spend their money or a more profitable way to invest it because they understand that they have a very, very, very slim chance of winning.

  2. Hate to disagree with you.  I would not consider someone who shares their wealth to aid in others suffering to be of small mind.  They kept enough for their comfort but shared the excess.  That is what you are saying by getting your relatives out of work.  I think it would be a waste to spend it on personal films that probably would never get enough viewers to even break even.

  3. So your saying you would have your whole family quit working. Then spend the money on buying 3 houses and producing a couple of D movies that no one will pay to see. What about the utility's, food and property taxes ? I think you would be bankrupt in a matter of years, maybe less.

  4. lotto is a gamble, meaning it is a game of chance

  5. if you use the tabloids to analyze people's minds then its no wonder your not a doctor
