For the same reason that people were critical of Clinton gettin bobbed in the white house. Any simple thing that doesn't concern the general public will rile up the american people.

Hello! Clinton did that in my house! And in everyone that is an American's house. We the people have a right to be angry and upset when someone does something so wrong in OUR house and then lies to us!

I have never heard any pundit say anything about his divorce. I have heard them talk about those issues you mentioned with Obama. I don't think a divorce is worth mentioning in rational discourse and Obama's issues have been covered thoroughly.

McCain supporters better get used to it because this is what Hillary supporters have been saying for twelve months. The media, with the exception of O'Reilly and the right wing hardcores (Rush and Hannity), have given this guy the free ride. NBC mine as well just refer to him as the messiah. McCain is really, really going to have to do well in the debates. If not, although Obama has shown a few "chinks" in the armour lately, I think he's still the man to beat.

Also, just because Obama attended a church where the pastor was racist doesn't mean that Obama is racist.  People all over the world have friends with different views of the world.
