Why is it that..?

you hear so many stories of how kids get hurt even killed by getting run over or hit by a car that was in a driveway and rolled backward onto the them, or someone was just not paying attention and backed up with the child behind the car? Ive heard of this happening like 6 times. I would think after hearing about so many people would be more careful but it just keeps happening. What do you think should happen to those people?

they should be neutered so they cannot have children anymore.

I'm super-paranoid about this. i never, EVER want to get into an accident like this so i always look behind and drive very slow.

I don't know what should be done to these people but they should take extreme precaution around places with children..

What should happen to them?  I think the guilt of accidentally running over and injuring or even killing your child is enough, don't you.  It's not like they did it on purpose, if they did that would be another story.

Negligence would be drunk driving, sleep deprivation, not looking, talking on the phone... These are all examples of the driver not using good judgment and therefore causing a child to be harmed.  In the case of a driver accidentally backing over a child, sometimes the driver has done ALL he/she could and should have done.  Sometimes the child is too small to see over the end of the back bumper, even though the driver was diligent in looking and watching.  I don't feel these people need to be punished at all.  It was a terrible accident.

However in the case of real negligence, I do believe that the driver should suffer consequences to the fullest extent the law allows.

That's terrible.  :(  If reckless driving and child endangerment can be proven, then they should be charged and punished as the law requires.
