Why is it that society put pressure of you to have kids?

Ok, maybe not society as a whole but I am 23 and my boyfriend and I (been together 3 and a half years, plan to get married when we can afford it) we don't want children. I understand making a decision like that now is pretty silly as I am still young and we may change our minds in the future, but my family and friends say that I HAVE to have children. WHY? why do I HAVE to?

you will want kids when you change your focus of life from yourself. Cant afford to get married? WTF? Now I've heard everything!

Probably they feel that the children will bind u in marriage and stability in life will follow. As far as society is concerned , come to India or China u will be appreciated if u decide not to have kids even after marriage

People put pressure on you because they THINK they know what is best for you or what will make you happy. Many people have a hard time understanding someone who thinks differently then them. You say you don't want children, but what they are thinking is "Oh, she is only saying that because she doesn't know how wonderful being a parent is. Once she has a child she will realize I am right." The person whose child is the center of their world has a hard time truly believing someone can be happy without children. It is really much more about them than you.

You dont have to, although it is the most natural process and generally our main point of existence is to continue and grow our race.

You dont have to, but people will consider it 'un-human' like for you not to want to, as it comes so naturally and willingly to most.
