Question:

Why is it that sometimes when I take a load of clothes out of the dryer towards the end of a cycle....?

...the clothes are so hot it almost burns to touch them, other times, the clothes almost still feel damp, or are dry, but warm at best. This is when I've run the dryer for the same amount of time and on the same settings.

Does it have to do with the load size? Or is there something wrong with my dryer?

  1. you may be overloading the dryer. try a little less and see if it remains consistant

  2. in all dryers there is a cool down or wrinkle guard cycle after it dries your clothes make sure that you take out your clothes after the dryer completely stops

  3. Well yeah, more wet cloths= either higher setting, or more time, or all Levis, vs. all "T" shirts. The Levis are gonna take longer.

  4. It might depend on the load size, whether you have lots of heavy cotton fabric in the load, etc. Do you clean your lint trap after every cycle? A build up of lint will limit the dryer's effectiveness. Try that and try lightening the load you put in as well. Good luck :)

  5. Mostly it has to do with the clothes, even if the loads are carefully sorted out according to fabrics, some garments will have a heavier weave than others, some will clump together more readily and some will simply be made from more fabric than others. And of course, load size is important as well..you should try to make up dryer loads of similar sizes with similar sized garments and following the advice on the labels so that the same dryer settings work for everything in a given load.Try to get used to setting the dryer so that at the end of the cycle everything is still very slightly damp..it will finish drying in the open air in minutes and if you are going to iron things you will get far better results if they are not perfectly dry.

  6. Sometimes when my lint screen is really full the dryer gets TOO hot - which is dangerous.  Make sure you clean the lint screen before each load.
