Why is it that the Navy has all the good equipment and weapons?

Why is it that the Navy has all the good equipment and weapons, while the Air Force and Army have obsolete and old equipment?

equipment is not obsolete as long as it still is useful.

Army: M1A2 abrams is the best main battle tank in the world

AF: F-22 Raptor is best fighter in the world, F-35 will be the best VTOL attacker

I dont know what equipment you are refering to, specifically

The Navy is having to make do with F18s.    Their stealth fighter program was canceled in 1991 due to massive cost over runs.   They have no dedicated air superiority fighters now that all the F14s have been retired.  Seems to me the Navy is just hanging in there until the F35 comes on line and even then,  that was not designed to be an air superiority fighter and it will just replace the F18s...

In the meantime the USAF has the F22 already operational.

Well for one thing the Navy controls the majority of all US nuclear warheads.

And as a percentage of budget the Navy spends the least on their bases. All the Navy wants at a base is piers, warehouses and a few office buildings.

Bowling alleys, pool halls, swimming pools, rec centers, housing, all that junk, if you can find it at all on a Navy base, it was put there just to fill space. The Navy spends it's money on the gear, and then pays the sailors to house themselves.

Which also counts for why sailors make more money.

the army is one of the most funded branches of the us military, dont know about air force even though they seem like they would be also

i understand what you mean by equipment. but not why you think air force has poor stuff. think of it like this. in the army the equipment gets used and abused so they are always spending money to fix or replace it.  an m16 is cheaper than a m-4.  the navy and air force rarely fire their weapon yet alone actually carry it in combat. so they can afford the nicer stuff
