  1. God gave us the Platypus to confuse us and keep us guessing and to show us that all things are possible and never say never and don't be so afraid of things that are different

The short answer is nobody really knows.  Presumably egg-laying is an adaptive trait for the platypus and other monotremes such as the echidna, but researchers have yet to figure out why.  It's possible that it had benefits earlier in its evolutionary history that are less apparent now.  Some have speculated that the platypus is some kind of intermediate life-form between birds or reptiles and mammals, and that traits such as egg-laying and venom are holdovers, but we know from genetic studies that this is not the case, and that these traits evolved independently.

  3. maybe it has the same traits as a bird. it as a bill doesnt it?

  4. cause they want to fit in while co habiting with others and laying their eggs and the same time helps them to?
