My ex recently told me that he told my brother things once that I had done in the past. It really annoyed me because that was in my past and I am nothing like that person anymore. I am just hoping my brother hasn't got the attitude that people don't change.

  1. The fact that you so much resent what your ex told your brother proves you're still the same messed up person; because taking responsibility for ourselves and our actions is the only way we can change ourselves, and this apparently is what you are refusing to do.  Your brother is probably thinking that you, anyway, will never change.

  2. People can grow and evolve, but I think the basic person doesn't change... And theres maturing. That can alter perspective alittle bit.

    Its been my experience, anyway.

  3. Hes your brother, he is someone that will be a part of your life forever. Im sure that he will realize the change

  4. We unfortunately are creatures of habit, and the old cliche that future actions is often predicted by the past is true more often than not. Buddhism teaches us that our habitual thought patterns 'binds' us in acting in a certain manner. This does not mean for one moment that we cannot change it, it simply means that it is very difficult and that unless we make a conscious effort we will continue to do what we have done in the past: Whether it is good or bad.

It is natural for people to be sceptical when we claim to have 'changed'. The only thing we can do is be patient, and prove to others and ourselves that we do not merely say we have changed (AND in many instances believe we have changed), but through our actions show that we have changed.

  5. Well I can say that people change they just need to experience a new environment to make them think. To change you need to get out of your comfort zone.I know for a fact that I've changed a whole lot.I remember being the kid in elementary and the first two years of middle school trying to fit in with what everyone else was doing.Well I eventually messed up somewhere in between and was kicked out of my fancy art school and put in public school.I'm a whole different person now.I'm in high school now and I've seen some old people I knew who said I've changed so much although they pretty much stayed the same.I think your brother might be a little ignorant of the world.Just ignore him and just know that the old you is dead and theres a new model that has emerged.

  6. some people  just think that way

    but for me...

    people can change

as the bible even says that...

only stupid one cant change his self!!!

  7. technically, from a psychological standpoint, people cannot 'change'. they were born a certain way and will die that exact same way.

but, their behavior can change, that's for sure.

mistakes are for learning for sure. you can't grow without experience..good and bad.
