  1. I can't say that I look out for that sort of thing, but now you come to mention it ........ Yes. It is not sexist, at least I personally do not think so.

  2. It is because at a certain age the women start to look like the men and we need to be able to tell the difference.

  3. dont know is it?

  4. in this day and age i guess so////everything is something 'ist' these days.

  5. Maybe it's because middle aged men, mature gracefully.

  6. no i dont no were you live but there not all young and models

and the old men have been doing it for years prob so they have experiance not looks

  7. The same reason if a man is old & marries a women years younger they say good on him.Yet if a woman doe's it  people look down on her.

  8. Absolutely, and we employ them by turning the tv on.

  9. Yes that's right - the women seem more like dollybirds!

  10. Does that mean that the women are employed for their looks, and the men for their ability?

  11. yeah its cuz old men often have an air of wisdom about them- so it could be said they're there to look intellectual, and the women are there to look nice

it is quite sexist yes, but considering not long ago the whole world was totally unequally treating towards women- its going to take quite along time and a few generations for these assumed 'norms' to be recognised as sexist and faded out

  12. lol tell that to nick ross

the man was replaced on crimewatch by a younger female

jordan.  posh spice.  jodie marsh.  female pop videos.  god knows how many other females

they all trade on female physical appearance

    it cuts both ways

    the solution is dead simple

if girls dont want it, they should stop buying the magazines and the books and everything else that holds up the likes of jordan and posh spice as role models

i wont hold my breath lol

  13. Perhaps men age better.

I really don't care how old they are as lo as they present themselves in a tidy fashion. It seems that some gink has told some of them to dress down.

  14. really, i could point to some old and average women but i am too polite

  15. I'm sorry to say it but, even though we are in the 21st century, yes, the western world is sexist. Men are still judged more on other qualities. Women are judged first on looks.

I hope this will change and that women will be judged on their merits as intelligent, confident, talented etc, as men are.....

We can all help this along by not buying into it, and speaking out against it,  if we want to.

  16. I would have to agree with Suzita. You would expect  that by now a woman would be valued by the quality of her character and intellect, but it seems that our bodies and faces are still considered, generally,  to be our most important, if not our only important assets. I would say I hope this will change but to be frankly honest, if it hasnt by now, I doubt it ever will

  17. Most of the population here in the United States is now born in 1965 or before.  If these people saw a youung person in his or her 20s or 30s being the news anchor, they would think of them as maybe highly educated, but not highly experienced in living life itself.  If a person is maybe in his or her 50s or older, the public thinks of them as having been through many of life's experiences and that gains them greater credibility.  If they younger man or women is reporting the news out in the field, they are accepted.  Think of how long Mrs. Pauley was on the Today show or on the evening news.  The same for Maria Shriver now the wife of Gov. Swarzenegger of California.  They report on many news stories, but did not stay as an anchor person for very long, just to fill in for a time maybe.  Look back at Chet Huntley, Tom Brokaw,  or Walter Cronkite they both came into their prime after they had turned 45 or later and stayed as the primary news anchor for their networks for decades.
