  1. Shot in the dark: the media is owned and operated by rich white men who think an honest days work means getting picked up from their million dollar NYC apartments by a limo and driven to their offices where all they do is figure out how to squeeze even more advertising revenue out of reruns of 'Friends' and 'Two and a Half Men'. They're out of touch with the working class everyperson and unfortunately a lot of the working class are too busy believing the hype to realize the fact that their way of life (working to middleclass) is being pushed lower and lower until all there will be is the haves and the have nots, literally. My Dad made at most $10.00 an hour and was able to pay off a house, two cars and put myself, my brother and my sister through college. THOSE DAYS ARE GONE.

  2. Its a free day of work!

  3. Because it was made up to replace May Day, a working class holiday all around the world, but since there are no classes in America  ( LOL)  ( and labor unions are fading away into oblivion), it has just become another excuse for a 3 day week end to mark the end of summer.

  4. Usually the media likes to talk about other "important" things. Things that will get peoples attention and to wacth their network. so basically the would rather talk about what celebrity is doing than rather show a section on Labor Day.

  5. There's a significance to Labor Day? I thought it was a "made up" holiday just to break that long stretch between Independence Day and Thanksgiving.

  6. It doesn't. Following are several articles that discuss the history of Labor Day. There are hundreds more if you look for them.
