In the day time, we see the sky as blue unless we happen to be an astronaut and then when we go up to space, we see it just as it is at night. Why isn't the sky the same all 24 hours?

  1. This is because of Earth's rotation. The sky is blue during the day because of Rayleigh scattering. Blue light is scattered more than any other component in the visible portion of the electromagnetic spectrum. During the night, the area that is dark is obviously not receiving any light from the Sun.

  2. When the sun is up, the sky is light.  When the sun goes down, the sky turns black.

  3. ok

    its pretty d**n simple

im space, you leave the earths atmosphere, which means, you leave the area around the earth that has oxygen.

the reason in which the sky is blue in the daytime, is because the sun illuminates the part of the earth that is shown to it.

at night, the earth is facing the opposite direction of the sun, so that the atmosphere isnt illuminated and all you see is space.

its kind of like when your in a dusty room and the lights are off, and you take a flash light and you can see all the dust floating around in the air. but when you turn the flash light off, you see nothing. thats excatly what the sun does to earth atmosphere during the day.  i hope i helped =]

  4. its all due to the illlumination of our atmosphere....

in the day time the sun lights causes the illumination of the sky.....the blue light is least scattered nd the sky appears blue.....

but at night the moon light is not enough to provide the illumination......
