when I went to school all children had gym. music and shop for Boys and some girls and Home economics for girls and some boys yet now our kids have fallen behind, before when we had the basics we all knew how to read ,write and count, cook and sew and use our hands now our kids seem worse off and we just keep making it worse and that was public school.

  1. The teachers union has caused a lot of damage. They control much of our educational system and their jobs are to benefit teachers not the kids.

  2. Liberalism.

  3. our system was once about preparing kids to serve society...as other countries systems still are.  Now it's about teaching kids that the world owes them...

The combination of the anti-establishment and individual empowerment movements of the 60s created an environment where kids are taught to reject authority and be the center of their own universe.

With the feminist movement and death of the single-income family, schools have become day-care centers...As such they are relied upon more and more to provide the social training that kids once got from their extended families.

Predictably, the shift from education to indoctrination attracted every manner of special interest and activist group to get their agenda pushed on our youngest citizens.

What was once a process designed to provide a consistent foundation upon which to build has become a celebration of chaos and alienation.

  4. I agree. Now they are cutting music and PE from the curriculum of schools nationwide to be replace some c**p that someone felt was more important. Let's get back to the basics and teach these kids right.

  5. seems you need the 3 W's more to succeed.

    White

    Whiny

    Warlike

  6. I know I'll probably get a thumbs down from this.. However, other countries go to school year round and therefore are learning more faster than children in the U.S.

Having a summer break causes children to lose much of their learning and so when they go back to school they have to re-learn information that was taught the previous yr.    Also, so much is crammed into a tight scedule that things often go to the wayside... Like fine arts, music, drama and athletics... If children were to go to school yr. round with small breaks every 6 weeks they would retain more and have more time for activities..  Parents also wouldn't have to fret as much with finding appropriate daycare/activities if their children were in school instead of hanging out or getting into trouble while their parents were at work..

**The only reason for summer vacation WAY back in the day was so that children could work in the fields...

However, teachers wouldn't want to give up their summer vacations.. So, our children lag even farther behind...

  7. It is estimated that it cost over $10,000 per year on average to educate an illegal alien child. That is $10,000 per year per illegal student less that is available to teach American children. That's $11 billion that is being used to educate people that don't belong here! How are we suppose to build and maintain these gyms and different shops for our children if we use the money to educate illegal aliens? Also children are being taught a manner that helps the non-English speaking children to the detriment of the English speaking children. It's time we took back our schools and taught children in a proper manner instead of teaching them in a manner that is best suited to the children who are here illegally.
