  1. The study of sociology itself relies on the thought that all relationships and individual thoughts and interactions are created by society. For example, if person A and person B are waiting for an elevator, and person B has their hands full, what makes person A hold the door for person B? Society.

If person A defies the societal norm of being polite, they know there may be consequences (whether said out loud or remain as a thought) from person B.

  2. for the most part its because society ostracizes those who reject it. since people dont want to be shunned by pretty much everybody, they try to fit in.

sometimes groups of people reject society together and form a subculture, but whats funny is that for them thats the way society urged them.

really though, its uncertain as to how much your behaviour is created by your genetic influence or the cultural influence.
