  1. hardly.....the world is a mess, our values are out of wack, we have no idea who we are, what we are, and why we are.

No decent leaders or clergy people to look up to. It's the law of the jungle and until Tarzan shows up I have no idea what to be thankful for.

    d**n this wine is good.

  2. Its true that on one hand, it does seem like we get things with less effort these days (in retrospect to other generations or era's)..

I think the main reason we take certain things for granted is because we 'need' to..

Life is hectic these days (whether economically or politically); we need to take certain things for granted in order to be comfortable with some parts of our lives...

HOWEVER, i don't think that we have it "made easy" these days....yes we do have easier access to a lot of things....but they don't come falling on our laps...not in the real world they don't...

Personally, there are certain things that I am always grateful for and could never take for granted (health and family....and most of the time, love life)..we do have a lot to be thankful for!

  3. We take things for granted because we have everything we need and more...things come falling into our laps that's why we don't care anymore.

I think you start to be thankful when you see what others do not have and how well you are living your life...and here's when you stop taking things for granted.

We're always thankful for another day, for food, for love, for friendship...even if we don't show it...it's just that sometimes we're too exhausted to feel thankful...the worst has taken over the best

  4. ya .. i never take anything for granted .. i used to .. but that was before my suicide attempt(s) ... and now i appreciate life much more ... i live every day as a new miracle ...

  5. We sure do! I know I do!

I think we are "spoiled" even if we do not have everything we want as we have so much better than so many people!  We take things for certain when we neglect to appreciate our home, our loved ones,  the peace in our country (for some of us), the good food we have ...

I know I complain with my tummy full at times but I am thankful for everything ... and try to thank the Lord more often than just when I am happy.  I especially try not to take for granted my husband's love as I see so many lonely people everywhere ...

Here is a little message for all of us:

    Life Is a Gift

Today before you say an unkind word - Think of someone who can't speak.

Before you complain about the taste of your food - Think of someone who has nothing to eat.

Before you complain about your husband or wife - Think of someone who's crying out to GOD for a companion.

Today before you complain about life - Think of someone who went too early to Heaven

Before you complain about your children - Think of someone who desires children but they're barren.

Before you argue about your dirty house someone didn't clean or sweep - Think of the people who are living in the streets.

Before whining about the distance you drive-- Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.

And when you are tired and complain about your job - Think of the

unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your job.

But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another - Remember that not one of us is without sin.

And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down - Put a smile on your face and think: you're alive and still around.

  6. because we all don't live in lebanon

  7. Wow Aussie, you are in a reflective mood!

I find we take things for granted when we get them easy or for free. We do not appreciate things as we have not worked hard for them. And if we do appreciate them - it definitely equivalent to the worth of having them!

YES there is SO much in this world to be thankful for....honest to god I thank god whenever I can for the fact that I have my sanity...and I value it so sO SO much.

That was my 2 cents worth...  :)

  8. Because we never feel challenged or have to work for anything these days.

  9. mbala, there are.

we are spoiled that we do not appreciate things as we should.

    It's not good
