Regular women would think that handsome men go only with beautiful women, so the moment a handsome guy flirts with her, it's a confirmation of her belief that she has the looks; thus she gives a positive review and thinks the handsome guy charming; so when a homely man flirting with her, it sends a  negative signal, contradicting her belief. Instead of accepting the fact, she gets annoyed  with the guy and call him pervert (?)  .

The magic word is handsome.  When that handsome man starts flirting with a woman, that is tantamount to feeding her ego - making her feel she is really attractive to have caught the man's attention.  While if he was homely or homey, the ordinary look wouldn't do much for her conceit.

I suppose it's just the social ladder. The higher up on the social chain you are, the more likely you'll be accepted socially. Also, a woman wants a man that she can be happy with, and rich, handsome, etc. are traits we look for.
